Uncharted Island

LOST Character Relationships Chart and Blog

I see dead Charlies.

Some people were trying to refute the claim that Hurley only hallucinated Charlie by saying that he could’ve also hallucinated the guy who pointed out that Charlie was staring at him.

Some other people had helpfully pointed out that the guy was the same patient he was playing Connect Four against at the beginning of the episode.

Watching the repeat of the episode tonight, I would like to add to the argument, perhaps to settle it. Hurley couldn’t have been hallucinating the other patient the way he supposedly hallucinated Dave. The nurse who gave Hurley his pills also gave pills and spoke to the other patient as Hurley was walking over to talk to his visitor, the guy who claimed to work for Oceanic Airlines.

So if Hurley wasn’t hallucinating the other patient, and the other patient also saw Charlie, then Charlie was more than just a hallucination.

Hurley did not see Jacob

I was wrong about Hurley seeing Jacob. Somebody got a screencap, and it was Christian in the rocking chair! (Say what?)

Blogging While Watching LOST: The Beginning of the End

Oceanic 6? Only 6 people get off the island? Flash forward!

I had a feeling it was a flash forward, but you never quite know with a LOST season premier. It still doesn’t beat last year’s season opener, but it was pretty good. Mangoes!

Ana-Lucia’s partner - I guess I’m going to have to update my chart!

Oh man, Hurley actually wants to go back to the nuthouse? I guess he really shouldn’t have left the island… He has always gotten really upset when people said he was crazy.

We really don’t need a Baywatch cam on Hurley running on the beach… Good for him, though, with the cannon ball.

Naomi’s body is missing. Does she have nine lives like Mikhail does?

Oh dear… Is Hurley at Jacob’s house? It doesn’t seem like it was that close to the beach when Ben took Locke there. But would there really be another spooky whispers house on the island? I’m sure I’m only a commercial break away.

So Naomi isn’t who she says she was, but she lied about being the target of Locke’s throwing knife, and she died without accusing the LOSTies of killing her. Hmm. And she loves her sister.

And… Jacob’s house… moves? Jacob’s little shack is like the Eye of the World. (Wheel of Time fans know what I’m talking about.) It moves to find those with the greatest need… or something like that. Hurley saw Jacob sitting in the chair. And I thought that Mikhail was the other man in the house, but it was silly of me not to realize it was Locke.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Locke wasn’t at the beach when they heard that Charlie died… right? How did he know about that? And what Charlie had written on his hand?

Hurley sees dead people. Or at least, Hurley sees dead Charlies. What is he supposed to do? And is he really having crazy hallucinations, or is Charlie like the island’s manifestations of dead people that our Losties have been seeing all along?

Wow. Jack really was going to shoot Locke. And Locke was never going to shoot Jack. Because the gun wasn’t loaded. Jack has come quite a long way to be at the point where he would kill someone. And not just anyone, not like Ben - but John Locke.

The Locke-inator. Come with me if you want to live.

Weird with a beard. Definitely, Jack. Listen to him.

This is going to be an interesting season. Half-season. Whatever.

Blogging while watching LOST: “Tricia Tanaka is Dead”

Without knowing whose flashback this was supposed to be, I had initially thought that the skinny kid was going to be a young Paolo.  Then Cheech Marin started talking and called him Hugo, and it hit me that this was the young Hurley.  Poor Hurley.  He started eating when his dad left and gave him a candy bar - even though his mom didn’t want him to have them.  Kinda sad.

But even sadder?  When I realized current-day Hurley was talking to Libby’s grave.  My husband said it about five seconds before Hurley did.  I actually had tears in my eyes and had to stop myself from crying.

Hurley had said that a meteor hit Mr. Cluck’s Chicken Shack.  Now we know that it hit the Chicken Shack with the reporter Tricia Tanaka inside it.  And that’s where the episode title came from, so let’s move on.

The Mystery Machine is in the middle of the jungle on the LOST island.  Or, as my husband prefers to call it, a shaggin’ wagon.  Or as Sawyer called it, a hippie car.

I know it’s horrible, but I laughed both when the meteor hit Mr. Cluck’s and when poor Roger the DHARMA work man’s skeletal head popped off when Hurley and Jin were trying to remove him from the van.

Vincent!  The dog’s had the run of the island for a while, and we hadn’t seen much of him until tonight.

Was Sawyer’s “Munchkin” nickname for Charlie an allusion to his prior status of hobbit?  I like to think so.  Of course, I’m re-reading Wicked right now, so it made me smile anyways.

Is it just me, or does Kate seem completely different?  She was trying to make nice with Sawyer, calling him James and asking for him to apologize - she seemed about five years younger.  Even when she reverted to not forgiving Sawyer for his obnoxiousness, she still seemed younger.  Maybe I’m the only one to notice.  Evangeline Lilly is around my age, though a little bit younger - but Kate has always seemed to be older than me, in my eyes.  But not tonight.  Tonight she does seem younger.  I can’t quite put my finger on why.

Jin's English LessonLiterally laughing out loud at Sawyer’s three things a woman needs to hear from Jin’s English lesson.  I’m sorry.  You were right.  Those pants don’t make you look fat. Although I don’t think Sun really has to worry about looking fat in her pants.  Aside from already having a gorgeous figure, pregnancy exempts you from worrying about looking fat.  I know I never felt better about the way my body looked than when I was pregnant.

The boys took a joyride in the van.  Way to go Hurley for breaking the curse.  Way to go Charlie for cheating death.  Although I’m sure the masses hated this episode because nothing really happened except for Hurley doing donuts in the grass, I liked it.

And I am so happy that Kate told Danielle about Alex.  Will we have a reunion in the next few weeks?  Please?  Exciting things are afoot!
