“Every Man For Himself” - The One Where Sawyer Doesn’t Get a Pacemaker
As soon as Ben told Sawyer they put a pacemaker in, I said to my husband that they were just messing with him. Turns out, I was right. I guess it can still happen, sometimes. Conning the con man to gain his trust; funny, I thought they were just doing it to mess with his head. Then again, I didn’t realize that Sawyer was playing the other convict to buy himself a get out of jail free card.
He has a daughter named Clementine. Didn’t see that coming.
We have confirmation of the two island theory. Every since we saw Pala Ferry last year, the forums had been a-buzz with the possibility of a second island. The pan-out shot we had during the season opener seemed to discredit the theory, but either they used a deceiving camera angle, or the book club village is on the Losties island. Or Ben was lying, and they are still standing on the Losties island, and the other island is just another island. Many possibilities.
“The sub is back.” So that explains a lot. They have a submarine. Helps explain how the Others have been able to sneak up out of the water without being noticed and without being wet.
So what are Sawyer and Kate going to do now? Stuffed in their bear cages with no place to run.
Something just occured to me. Karl asked where the plane crashed so he could escape to the Losties. Wouldn’t he, as an Other, know that it was a different island? Maybe that lends credence to them still being on the original island. Or maybe the young people are kept in the dark about what happens outside their little compound. Lots to think about.
Jack couldn’t save Colleen. But will he end up saving Ben? That’s what the previews suggest. If I were Ben, I don’t know if I’d want to trust my life to the man I’ve been psychologically torturing for weeks.
And Desmond is almost certainly a precog. He knew that, not only was it going to rain at a certain moment, but that a hole in Claire’s roof would open up over the baby and that lightning would strike his homemade golf club tower. This could certainly be interesting. Will the future he sees always come true, or will he be able to change the future by taking measures to avoid what he sees coming true? Personally, I’d like his “visions” to be like Min Farshaw’s vision in the Wheel of Time series. When she sees something and knows what it means, it always comes true, no matter what she or anyone else tries to do to change it.
Kate loves Sawyer. She denied it later, but we know she loves him. And he loves her. We’ve known that for a while. Will the writers actually do something interesting about it? I hope so.
